Aren Nielsen

Aren Nielsen grew up in Kansas City, Missouri.  He is a 5 time former US National medalist, International competitor, and US World Team Member.  He competed for 19 years and trained under Olympic Champion Carol Heiss-Jenkins, and Olympic Coach, Don Laws. He has passed his Senior Freeskate and 8th Figure test under the USFS testing structure. Aren has more than 20 years coaching experience and is a PSA Master Rated coach in Freestyle. He has coached several skaters through their USFS Gold Medal tests. His coaching highlights include students achieving a podium placement at the US National Championships in the Intermediate, and Novice levels. He has also been selected as a coach to participate USFS High Performance National Development Camp, Aren is available as a primary coach to skaters who wish to pursue competitions and testing.  Additionally, he’s the IceForum Figure Skating Director and figure skate technician.

Benita Bobo

Benita Bobo Benita was born and raised in Southern California where she passed her Senior Moves in the Field and Freeskate tests. After graduating from UCLA, Benita was able to pursue her passion to the fullest, skating professionally with Disney on Ice for 4 years. After her time on tour, Benita realized how important nutrition was to skating so she went back to school to be a Registered Dietitian. Benita now combines her coaching skills in skating and nutrition to help her students achieve their highest potential by preventing injuries, improving recovery time, and increasing performance. Benita loves working with students of all ages and ability levels, and is available as a primary coach.

Noelle Kachinsky

Noelle Kachinsky started skating in Wisconsin in 1987 and participated in ice shows and regional competitions in the Midwest. Noëlle passed her second figure test, intermediate freestyle, and took moves in the fields tests up to Novice. She started coaching in college and then took about 20 years off from the sport. In 2018 Noëlle came back to skating as an adult competitor and coached in Virginia and North Carolina before coming to the Atlanta area to continue her number one passion. She’s a Professional Skaters Association member and is available as a primary coach for freestyle, moves in the field, power skating for figure skaters and hockey players, and basic skills.

Nicole Zawojski-Engel

Nicole Zawojski-Engel is a PSA Double Master-Rated coach in Choreography and Moves in the Field. She is a 6-time USFS Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, Freeskate, Pattern Dance, Partnered Free Dance, Solo Free Dance, and International Pattern Dance, a 3-Time Senior National Theatre on Ice competitor, and a 3-Time South Atlantic Regional Finalist in singles. Nicole is the current Artistic Director for Atlanta Ice Theatre. She has coached Theatre on Ice teams to 5 National medals including a US National Theatre on Ice Title in 2017, and has worked with International, National, Sectional, and Regional competitors at the Qualifying and Non-Qualifying levels. Nicole specializes in Choreography, Dance, and Moves in the Field but is available for all disciplines. 

 

Megan Berntson

Megan Berntson has been skating for over 30 years, and coaching at the IceForum since 2011. She comes from Warwick, Rhode Island, where she enjoyed competing up to Silver Solo Ice Dancing as well as Senior level Synchronized Skating. She has passed the Pre-Gold Ice Dancing test under the USFS testing structure. She loves to share her enthusiasm for the sport with skaters of all ages. Her PSA credentials include a Registered rating in Group Instruction and a Certified Pattern Dance rating. Megan specializes in Pattern Dance instruction, as well as Basic Skills levels 1-6, and loves to coach skaters at competitions.  She is also excited to be one of the directors of the Atlanta Ice Theatre, and a member of Atlanta Ice Theatre Unsupervised. She is also our current Learn to Skate Director.

Kaysi Thompson

Kaysi Thompson is a former National Medalist and International competitor. She also has duel citizenship and was a member of the U.K. National team for two years. She trained under Olympic coach Robin Wagner. She is a Gold Medalist in Freestyle and Moves in the Field under both the UK and USFS testing structures. Kaysi is also a Silver Medalist in Ice Dance. She holds a PSA Certified Freestyle and Certified MIF rating. Kaysi has 15 years of coaching experience. She has coached many USFS regional medalist as well as Adult national competitors. She specializes is jump technique and Moves in the Field and is available as a primary coach geared towards USFS competitions and testing. 

 

Vickie Marlin

Vickie Marlin was a member of the Chattanooga Civic Ballet before she started skating at the age of 20.  She has passed the Adult Silver Freeskate and Intermediate Moves in the Field tests under the USFS testing structure.  She began coaching in 2002 and holds a PSA Certified rating in Group Instruction. Vickie specializes in Basic Skills and adults, and is available as a primary coach. Additionally, she was a public school teacher for 17 years and now tutors students in reading, writing, grammar, and English.

 

Ellen Poulsen

Ellen Poulsen skated for the All Year FSC in So. California and is has passed her Senior Freeskate, 7th Figure test, Bronze Ice Dance test under the USFS testing structure. She has a BS in Kinesiology from UCLA and a Masters in Physical Therapy from Emory University. “Skating has taught me important lessons and opened many doors. I coach to give others the same opportunity to benefit from having skating in their lives” She has been coaching for 20 years and has had skaters test to the Junior level and compete at Regionals. She has a Certified Freeskate, Registered MIF and Group ratings from the PSA. She is available as a primary coach focused on USFS competitions and testing. She also specializes in Adaptive Skating.

Barb McKee

Barb McKee has taught every level of figure skating from Basic Skills to Adult Skating to Power Skating in the past forty-three years.  In addition to teaching private lessons, She has coached 20 skaters to achieve Gold Test Level in multiple Figure Skating, and have also taught power skating and technical skating skills to numerous professional hockey players. She served as Head Coach for the Virginia Ice Delights Synchronized Skating Team for 20 years, coaching them to Silver Medalists level at the Midwestern Sectional Championship in both 2011 and 2012.  She teaches both group and private lessons. 

Sindy Kim

Sindy Kim is a former competitive figure skater from South Korea with over 20 years of skating experience. She trained in many Olympic facilities including Toyota Sports Center in California and Korean National training center and is a double gold medalist in Singles and Skating Skills. Sindy has 5 years of numerous international ice show experience as a principal skater including Disney on Ice, Royal Caribbean International, and Busch Gardens to name a few. She holds a PSA Certified Ratings in Freestyle and coached skaters to their gold medal tests and took part in the 2023 High Performance National Development coaching team. Sindy is available as a primary coach in Singles. 

Riona Harris

Riona Harris grew up in Duluth, GA and started skating when she was 8 years old at Atlanta IceForum. She continues to skate as an ice dancer and she is also part of the Atlanta Ice Theatre team. She is a 4-Time USFS Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, Pattern Dance, Solo Free Dance, Free Dance, and also has completed 2 international dances. She is a 3-time regional competitor, 2-time National Showcase competitor, and National Solo Dance Finalist. Riona has also been dancing ballet since she was 3 years old. Additionally, she has a Ballet for Figure Skaters Certificate. She is a PSA member and teaches group lessons, ballet, stretching, and is available to teach private lessons in all disciplines. 

Farah Sheikh

Farah Sheikh is the 2013 Senior Ladies Collegiate National Champion, a Senior Ladies Sectional competitor, Two-time Michigan State Champion, a double Gold Medalist in Freestyle and Moves in the Field, as well as a 7-time Regional competitor. Academically, Farah has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law. She skated competitively until age 18 and has been a United States Figure Skating Association Professional Figure Skating coach for 10 years. Farah had all her triple jumps and leveled spins under the International Judging System by age fifteen. She has taught in Florida and at the Detroit Skating Club - a world-renowned training facility for national, world and Olympic level ice skaters. She grew up training under Olympic and world level coaches such as Julianne Berlin and Yuka Sato at her home rink - Detroit Skating Club. She has taught students of all levels and ages both recreational and competitive. She enjoys preparing students for competitions, test sessions and ice shows. She is meticulous and dedicated; and uses positive feedback to achieve her students' skating goals and potentials. With her life experiences, Farah finds joy in coaching because she knows it is her talent and way off benefiting others.
