Official practice facility of the NHL Atlanta Thrashers and the ECHL Gwinnett Gladiators.   
  

IceForum operates Georgia's finest ice skating facilities with locations in Duluth and Kennesaw. The ice surfaces in both locations are regulation NHL size. The facilities boast a full service snack bar, a pro shop, video games, skate sharpening and repair service, skate rentals (figure and hockey skates), seating for spectators and locker rooms with showers. The famous Breakaway Grill restaurant is located at the Duluth facility overlooking the NHL Atlanta Thrashers practice rink.

Ice skating is not just a winter activity; IceForum is open 365 days a year. We offer skating to the public 7 days a week. If you don't own skates, you can rent a pair! Can't skate? We offer skating classes for all ages and levels. We offer both group and private lessons with professional instructors. The IceForum offers great Birthday packages for a memorable celebration with your friends. 

The IceForum is home to the Atlanta Junior Thrashers and Thunder AAA youth travel hockey programs. The IceForum Youth Hockey Association is the largest house league recreational and developmental hockey program in the state of Georgia.

1st Annual Summer Chill Basic Skills Competition sponsored by The Atlanta IceForum Skating Academy will be held at The Atlanta IceForum, Duluth GA 30097.
 
ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR PARTICIPANTS
 
The competition is open to ALL skaters who are current eligible (ER 1.00) members of either the Basic Skills Program and/or are full members of U.S. Figure Skating. To be eligible, skaters must have submitted a membership application or be a member in good standing. Only members of the IceForum Skating Academy at Duluth may enter this event. 
 
Eligibility will be based on skill level as of closing date of entries. All Snowplow Sam and Basic Skills skaters through Basic 8 including Speacial Olypmics must skate at highest level passed and NO official U.S. Figure Skating tests may have been passed including MIF or Individual Dances. Skaters in other events may skate at highest level passed OR one level higher BUT not both levels in the same event during the same competition.
 
ENTRIES AND FEES -All entries must be postmarked no later than June 1, 2009 and are limited to the first 150 applications received. Late entries will be accepted only if the limit has not been reached, at the discretion of the organizers. Entry fees are per person, U.S. dollars. The first event is $40.00 and each additional event is $15.00. NO refunds after closing date unless event is canceled by the IceForum Skating Academy. ENTRY FORMS MUST BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY and returned with fee check made payable to the Atlanta IceForum. There will be a fee for returned checks.
 
AWARDS – Everyone will receive an award. All events will be final rounds. Medals will be awarded to first, second, third and fourth places. ALL other places will receive ribbons or certificates. ALL awards will be made at appropriate times throughout the competition.
 
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS - Will be posted on the Official Bulletin Board no later than 1 week before the competition date. Information regarding groups and skating times will be e-mailed out prior to the beginning of competition.
 
MUSIC - The music for all free skating programs and showcase must be provided on CD’s by the skater. CD’s should be clearly marked with the name of the skater, event entered and length of music (not skating time). Competition music is to be turned in at the time of registration. Time duration is always +/- 10 seconds.
 
VIDEO TAPING AND PHOTOGRAPHS – There will NOT be any official videographer or photographer for this event. Parents may video or take pictures, but may NOT stand in rink doorways or players benches.

Duluth: Next set of group lessons will run March 2, 2009 - April 25, 2009. On line registration now open.

Town Center: Next set of group lessons will run from March 2, 2009 -May 3, 2009. Online Registration is open now through February 23, 2009.  Registration is also currently being taken at the rink.

IceForum Adult Hockey ~ Zero Tolerance Policy

ICE FORUM ADULT HOCKEY ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

In an effort to make ice hockey a more desirable and rewarding experience for all participants, the USA Hockey Youth, Junior, and Senior Councils have instructed the Officiating Program to adhere to certain points of emphasis relating to sportsmanship. This campaign is designed to require all players, coaches, officials, league officials and administrators to maintain a sportsmanlike and educational atmosphere before, during and after all USA Hockey sanctioned events.
Thus, the following points of emphasis must be implemented by all on-ice referees and linesman:

Players
A minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct (Zero Tolerance) shall be assessed whenever a player:

1) Openly disputes or argues any decision by an official.

2) Uses obscene or vulgar language at any time, including any swearing, even if it is not directed at a particular person.

3) Visually demonstrates any sign of dissatisfaction with an official's decision.

Any time that a player persists in any of these actions, they shall be assessed a misconduct penalty. A game misconduct shall result if the player continues with such action.
